Chetan Damji Sangoi is the Chief Executive Officer of Sarvodaya Supermarket, a Mumbai-based grocery retail business with roots dating back to 1972. He played a key role in transforming the family’s traditional kirana operation into a modern supermarket format in 2003, following extensive research into evolving retail models and consumer needs.
With more than two decades of experience in organised grocery retail, Sangoi has developed deep expertise in store operations, merchandising, inventory and stock control, FMCG pricing and margins, vendor negotiations, retail analytics and customer behaviour. He has also been associated with retail consulting and has shared his expertise through lectures at management institutions, including VAMNICOM.
His experience extends beyond Sarvodaya: he has served as a director at OSIA Hyper Retail Ltd., which operates a network of hypermarkets, and has worked as a retail consultant for businesses in India and overseas.
Sangoi is a regular participant in industry forums and has been featured as a speaker and panellist at the India Food Forum and Phygital Retail Convention, where he brings the perspective of an independent supermarket operator to discussions on grocery retail, consumer trends, innovation and competition.
