Chef Rahul Shrivastava’s entry into the culinary world may have been unplanned, but his journey since has been shaped by passion, perseverance and an unwavering pursuit of excellence. His interest in cooking can be traced back to childhood, when he would assist his mother in the kitchen—an early experience that sparked a curiosity that would eventually evolve into a professional culinary career.
Rahul began his career with The Oberoi, New Delhi, where he was introduced to the fundamentals of Japanese cuisine. He credits those early years with instilling in him the discipline, precision and attention to detail that continue to influence his approach to food. In 2016, he took another significant step by opening his first restaurant, A2 at The Park Chennai, with a vision of bringing global flavours to the city. For Rahul, leading the restaurant was as much about creating memorable experiences for guests as it was about food.
Over the years, his culinary journey has been defined by experimentation, learning and a constant pursuit of refinement. His cooking brings together influences from diverse culinary traditions, complemented by local ingredients and his own contemporary interpretation.
Reflecting on his evolution as a chef, Rahul says, “Through my work, I’ve had the opportunity to develop expertise not only in Japanese cuisine but also in pan-Asian and world cuisine. Our world is more connected than ever, and I feel fortunate to have developed the skills to create food that caters to guests with diverse tastes and dining expectations.”
