Yunus Trumboo is Director, Khyber Aquaculture, a Kashmir-based aquaculture business focused on building a scalable, technology-led trout farming ecosystem and positioning Himalayan trout as a home-grown alternative to imported salmon.
Based in Ganderbal, Jammu & Kashmir, Trumboo is closely involved in Khyber Aquaculture’s strategy to modernise trout production and develop a stronger supply chain for premium seafood. The company operates an eight-acre facility in Akhal, Kangan, using advanced aquaculture systems, including recirculating aquaculture technology.
Under his leadership, Khyber Aquaculture is targeting significant expansion, with production capacity planned to grow from around 1,200 MT to 5,000–7,000 MT over the next five years. The company sees luxury hotels, restaurants and premium retail as key growth channels and is working to build greater acceptance of Himalayan trout among chefs and consumers.
Trumboo has also highlighted the opportunity to develop a more organised trout ecosystem in Kashmir by connecting farmers, technology, processing and markets. Khyber Aquaculture is expanding its B2C presence through distributors and partnerships with major retail chains, while simultaneously pursuing the HoReCa segment.
His work places him at the intersection of aquaculture, food production, premium seafood, hospitality and sustainable agriculture, making him a relevant voice on the emerging Indian seafood and cold-water fisheries ecosystem.
