Chirag Chhajer is the Co-Founder of Burma Burma Restaurant & Tea Room, which he started with his childhood friend Ankit Gupta in 2014. The brand began with its first outlet in Mumbai’s Kala Ghoda and has since grown into one of India’s leading specialty Burmese restaurant chains.
A food enthusiast and avid traveller, Chhajer came into the venture with a background in business and family entrepreneurship. He holds a degree in International Business from Swinburne University, Melbourne, and completed the Family Managed Business Programme at SP Jain Institute of Management & Research. Before entering the food and hospitality sector, he worked in his family’s textile trading business, Chhajer Synthetics, gaining hands-on experience in business management.
Chhajer joined Gupta in transforming the latter’s idea of bringing authentic Burmese cuisine to India into a scalable restaurant concept. Together, they built Burma Burma around Burmese food, culture and storytelling, creating an experience that extends beyond cuisine to interiors, art and hospitality.
Under Chhajer’s leadership, Burma Burma has expanded across multiple Indian cities while retaining its distinctive positioning. He was also recognised in Forbes India’s 30 Under 30 list in 2018 and has spoken at platforms including TEDx Youth Summit.
