Seshu Kumar Tirumala is the Chief Operating Officer of bigbasket, where he leads operations and plays a key role in driving execution as the company scales its quick-commerce business. He has been associated with bigbasket since 2014, making him one of the company’s longest-serving senior leaders.
He began his journey with bigbasket as National Head – Buying & Merchandising and later became Chief Buying & Merchandising Officer. Over the years, he has been instrumental in building the company’s merchandising, sourcing and category-management capabilities. Under his leadership, bigbasket’s private-label business grew to account for nearly 40% of its sales, while he also spearheaded the company’s direct farmer-sourcing network, strengthening its farm-to-customer ecosystem.
In his expanded role as COO, Tirumala is focused on strengthening operational systems, improving execution across the supply and agri ecosystem, and enabling a seamless and dependable customer experience as bigbasket continues to scale. His deep understanding of sourcing, merchandising, supply-chain operations and customer needs positions him to play a significant role in the company’s next phase of growth.
