With over 15 years of experience across international trade, market development and regulatory policy, Shiven Khanna (BBA, LL.B.) works at the intersection of global food and agriculture businesses and the rapidly evolving Indian market.
He advises and represents several leading international trade organizations in India, including USA Poultry& Egg Export Council, California Walnuts, Western United States Agricultural Trade Association (WUSATA), Southern United States Trade Association (SUSTA), California Figs, USA Hops, and others. His work spans market-entry strategy, policy advocacy, business development, consumer and foodservice promotions, and building long-term opportunities for international food and agricultural products in India.
Through these programs, Shiven works closely with leading retailers, e-commerce and quick-commerce platforms, foodservice operators, importers, distributors, chefs, processors and major hospitality groups across India, giving him a strong understanding of how food trends move from global markets to Indian consumers.
He has also been actively involved in the development of India’s cold-chain and food distribution ecosystem, including engagement with the Ministry of Agriculture and other government stakeholders.
Over the years, he has developed strong working relationships across key government ministries, regulatory bodies and domestic industry associations, enabling effective industry-government engagement and helping address market-access and regulatory challenges.
Earlier in his career, Shiven practised law with a leading law firm, specialising in Customs, Central Excise, Service Tax and Foreign Trade Policy. He represented prominent Indian and multinational companies before the Supreme Court of India, various High Courts and regulatory authorities.
His combined experience in law, policy, international trade and on-ground market development gives him a unique perspective on how global food businesses can successfully navigate, enter and grow in one of the world’s most dynamic food markets.
