Amrish Arora

MD
Fountain Hospitality

Calling Amrish Arora a Caterer or Restaurateur is belittling his passion, his enthusiasm & his creativity. The title of “Culinaire Extraordinaire” is more appropriate to describe his achievements in a single word.

But, 29 years ago, this man didn’t imagine what adventures lay ahead of him. A close family friend, Mr Vithal Kamat, offered this promising chap an Rs.11,000/- per month job to market memberships for Kamat’s Club- the then Airport Plaza Hotel. Today, the same property is the prestigious Orchid Hotel. In the 2 years that Amrish worked in Kamat’s Plaza, he quickly learnt the ropes of the Hospitality trade and soon launched “Go Bananas ‘with tremendous success obviously his mentor Mr Vithal Kamat (whom till date has the utmost respect).

This discotheque attracted all the celebrities of Mumbai, even the Biggest- Big B himself. Go Bananas was the first to launch “Karaoke” in India. His bubbling creativity has invented the concept of “Rain Dance”. Even today, this idea is madly popular. Forging his way ahead, he got into Pub Management & Consultancy. He conceptualized & kick-started 3 pubs in Mumbai- The Tavern at the Fariyas Hotel in Colaba, the Vintage Pub at Heritage Hotel in Byculla & Illusions at Hill Road, Bandra.

Passionate to succeed, he partnered to convert the old Peking Restaurant near Sterling Cinema to Studio—Lounge & Bar. The studio was a pub that was not a pub and a bar that was not a bar. Busybee was so impressed with the ambience, the music & the food that he dedicated a page in his “Round & About” Book (1994-95).
